Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor

The Mindly Group

I believe that counseling cannot be successful without honesty, openness to change, dedication, hard work, and strength. People come to counseling for many reasons, but most people want a “change” in their life. Please keep in mind this “change” may, at times, be challenging, difficult, and possibly painful. However, the goal should always be to bring about some positive change within you.

Therapy should provide a safe place to explore behaviors, thoughts, and feelings about yourself and others in your life. It allows you the opportunity to practice new ways of thinking and/or interacting in a safe environment before utilizing these skills in the “real world.”

Counseling is a process that facilitates exploration, clarification and identification of needs and helps you to make changes toward the attainment of life satisfaction and self-acceptance. I help you integrate using an array of therapeutic interventions that will hopefully yield the best results for you and the issues presented.

I have experience working with teens, adults, and families and specialize in supporting clients experiencing grief and loss, trauma and PTSD, anxiety, depression, stress, domestic violence, and concerns related to gender identity and LGBTQIA+ experiences. I tailor my approach to each client’s individual experiences, needs, strengths, and goals.
My professional experience also includes working with individuals facing cancer and other significant health-related challenges through my work at Duke Cancer Institute. These experiences have strengthened my understanding of the emotional impact that health concerns, loss, life transitions, and changes in relationships can have on individuals and families. For clients who wish to incorporate their faith or spirituality into therapy, I also offer spiritually integrated psychotherapy as part of the therapeutic process.
